Lusher Charter School employee charged with forgery-embezzlement www.privateofficer.com

New Orleans LA Dec 23 2012 An accounting employee of Lusher Charter School allegedly forged checks to herself to embezzle $25,000 from the school last year, according to a Friday report by The Lens.
The school reported the theft to police, the district attorney and the legislative auditor.
An NOPD report obtained by The Lens alleges Lauren Hightower, 30, forged the signature of Lusher CEO Kathy Riedlinger and others on six checks.
Hightower allegedly wrote herself five checks for $5,000 each, and a sixth for $800 made payable to cash, according to the report.
Hightower has not been charged with a crime. Police are continuing to investigate the case, the report says.
