A Christian County Deputy Sheriff was arrested over the weekend for allegedly having sex with a former inmate at the Christian County Jail.
Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Hawkins has been suspended without pay following his arrest Friday afternoon.
Kentucky State Police arrested Hawkins for allegedly having sex with a woman formerly jailed in the Christian County Jail.
Kentucky State Police said the 38-year-old deputy is charged with official misconduct, third degree sodomy, and two counts of third degree rape.
According to a news release, a state police investigation of Hawkins began in June when they learned of the alleged misconduct. Following the investigation, it was revealed Hawkins had an intimate relationship with a woman while she was under the supervision of the department of corrections.
Sexual offenses are Class D felonies while misconduct is a Class A misdemeanor.
Hawkins was arrested Friday. His bond was set at $5,000.
