A 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with second degree murder after his 5-year-old sister died Sunday. Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Detectives say the boy admitted to practicing "WWE" moves on the girl, even after she told him that she was in pain.
The girl was taken to Oschner Hospital West Bank where she was pronounced dead.
According to detectives, the 13-year-old said the little girl was complaining of a stomach ache and went upstairs to brush her teeth. After 30 minutes, her brother went upstairs to check on the child. He reported that she was on the floor in the bathroom complaining of a stomach ache.
In the report, it states that the teen walked downstairs with the 5 year-old and the child laid down on the sofa. A short time later, the 13 year-old noticed his sister was not breathing and he called 911.
The 13 year-old was given instructions by the 911 operator to begin CPR on the child until EMS arrived. While EMS was on scene, the victim's mother arrived back at home.
On Monday, detectives again interviewed the mother and the 13-year-old. The investigation revealed the teen was babysitting and was practicing "WWE" style wrestling moves on the child. The teen told detectives that he picked up the child and slammed her on the bed several times, jumped on the child and hit her with his elbow several times "like wrestlers do on television."
The 13 year-old also told detectives that he knows wrestling on television was fake. The 13 year-old continued by saying his sister complained that she was hurting, but he continued to slam, punch and elbow her for an additional two or three minutes stopping when his mother called him on the phone to check on he and his sister.
After the autopsy, the child's death was classified as a homicide. Her injuries consisted of severe blunt force trauma to the body, multiple internal injuries including broken ribs, lacerations to the liver, and internal bleeding.
The 13 year-old is charged with one count of second degree murder. He was booked into the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Terrytown is about 90 minutes southeast of Baton Rouge, just outside of New Orleans.
