ALBION NY June 2 2013 (AP) -- State police say an employee of the Thruway Authority who works on the Erie Canal stole metal material worth more than $5,700 from his workplace.
Troopers say their four-month investigation in conjunction with Thruway Authority investigators and village of Albion police led to the arrest of 55-year-old Bruce Rotoli of Albion.
Police say last fall Rotoli removed bronze bushing material from the Albion Canal Maintenance Facility in Orleans County. Troopers say he's employed by the Thruway Authority, which operates the state's canal system.
He has been charged with grand larceny. Rotoli has been released from the county jail after posting $2,5000 bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
