Washington Courthouse Ohio June 2 2013 Five Dayton residents were arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing over $1,000 worth of merchandise from the Washington C.H. Walmart.
At around 5:20 a.m. Thursday, Washington C.H. police officers responded to Walmart, 1397 Leesburg Ave., on a report that several people inside the business set off the security alarm when they departed. According to police reports, a Walmart employee had made contact with one of the five suspects, who told the employee that he had a gun on his person.
"The statement made the employee back off and cease his investigation into the theft," police said. Officers were provided with the description of the vehicle.
A vehicle matching the description with five people inside was located on U.S. Route 35 near Ford Road and police made a traffic stop. A large amount of property, including DVD box sets, Blu-Ray sets, and XBox video games with a total value of over $900, was found inside of the vehicle, according to reports. A BB handgun and several clothing items were also recovered.
All five suspects were taken into custody.
"After reviewing the video surveillance from Walmart it appeared that all the occupants in the vehicle were working as a team in stealing merchandise," police said. "The offender stopped by the employee was charged with aggravated robbery and theft. The other offenders were charged with complicity to aggravated robbery and theft."
David A. Dodson, 31, was charged with aggravated robbery and theft; Monuette W. Rushin, 37, was charged with complicity to aggravated robbery and theft; Brandon L. Rushin, 17, was charged with complicity to aggravated robbery and theft; Rashown J. Gilbert, 23, was charged with complicity to aggravated robbery and theft; and Denarius L.
