The allegations are shocking. They always are when it involves potential sexual misconduct between a teacher and a students. But the case at Leuzinger High in Lawndale involves a special education student; a developmentally disabled teenager and that makes it all the worse.
On Friday 60 year old Juan Gutierrez, a teacher's aide, Was arrested by the LA County Sheriff's Department elite Special Victims Bureau. He's been charged with three misdemeanor counts of annoying and molesting a child.
And reportedly there are witnesses. At least one high school student told me he saw it happen and he recorded it with his iPhone, later reporting it to school authorities.
The iPhone video was accidentally deleted but with the teen's help Detectives were able to find the scene on the school's surveillance tape. Yup, Big Brother was watching and isn't that a good thing?
Gutierrez will get his day in court...and that video will help prove him either innocent or guilty as charged.
