A Seminole County teacher is accused of sexually abusing a female student at a Longwood high school.
Seminole County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Scott Kimbrough Wednesday night on three counts of sexual assault on a minor.
Lyman High School officials contacted law enforcement Wednesday after they learned of possible inappropriate activity between a teacher and a 17-year-old female student.
The sexual abuse is believed to have occurred over the past three months at Kimbrough’s home in Winter Park. Investigators said it was substantiated following an interview with the victim.
Kimbrough, a math teacher at the school, was booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on a $10,200 bond. He posted bond early Thursday morning and is no longer in custody.
According to a school sponsored website, Kimbrogh also ran the school's anime club, which met after school.
Students News 13 spoke to said he was well-liked and were shocked to hear about the relationship.
Investigators are currently looking into the possibility of additional victims and are asking anyone with information to call Sheriff's Office at 407-665-6650.
The school district has declined to comment.
