Dearborn MI March 31 2013 Dearborn police officers arrested two Detroit residents for attempting to steal more than $1,600 worth of merchandise at the Target on Ford Road in Dearborn on March 22.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the store after receiving a call from the store's Loss Prevention security.
Upon arrival, security guards pointed out the men, who were arrested. Store security cameras show the two suspects, ages 21 and 23, arriving in a Chevrolet TrailBlazer. When they entered the store, the suspects went to the electronics department and allegedly removed several items, cut off security tags, and placed the items in carts near a closed checkout lane.
Store security informed police that they also observed one of the suspects place several items in the front of his sweatpants.
After talking with the two suspects, officers retained a shopping cart with two bags of merchandise. Items in the cart included 20 DVDs, nine Blu-Ray discs, two sets of Bose headphones (valued at $159 each), cell phone accessories, a bottle of pop and toilet paper.
Both men were arrested on charges of first degree retail fraud. The 23-year-old suspect also was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and two warrants out of Dearborn’s 19th District Court for larceny.
After impounding and searching the suspects' vehicle, officers discovered two Jawbone Jambox speakers (valued at $299.99 each), and cell phone equipment with UPC codes from different Target stores.
