VAN BUREN COUNTY, Tenn. Feb 21 2013 – Officials in Van Buren County said Sheriff Grayson Beasley passed away early Wednesday morning.
Van Buren County officials said he passed away around 1:20 a.m. after suffering a heart attack in his sleep.
Officials said the 59-year-old was overall a healthy man, but had noticed his blood pressure had increased a bit over the last few days. On Tuesday night, he worked out, went home, and then complained about having chest pains.
His wife took him to medics who later transported him to White County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Beasley leaves behind a wife, two adult children, step children, and a grandchild.
Beasley was elected as Sheriff in 2010. No funeral arrangements have been made yet.
The County Commission will decide whether to hire a new sheriff immediately or wait six months to have an election.
