Little Rock Ark Feb 13 2013 The principal of Henderson Middle School has sent a letter to parents following the arrest of a school security guard for sexual assault of a child.
The Little Rock School District says the following information was sent to parents at Henderson Middle School on behalf of the principal Steve Guerin:
Yesterday, around 1 p.m. Miguel Cazares, a substitute security officer with the Little Rock School District working at Henderson Middle School, was arrested by the Little Rock Police Department based on a charge of second degree sexual assault involving a minor. This incident was not school-related.
Mr. Cazares was employed by LRSD on Jan. 29, 2013 and went to work at Henderson on Feb. 1, 2013 after working one day as a substitute security officer at J.A. Fair High School. He was arrested on campus and terminated. We have no reason to believe he was inappropriately involved with students on any of the campuses with which he was associated.
Mr. Cazares had undergone a background check with LRSD's criminal background check system, from which he was cleared to begin employment. State Police, FBI and Department of Human Services background checks were in process. Again, we stress that Mr. Cazares' arrest was not school-related.
The Little Rock School District is committed to the safety and security of all our students, parents and employees. LRSD and LRPD will conduct thorough investigations and keep you updated on the latest developments.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Steve Guerin, principal at Henderson, 447-2800.
