RIVERSIDE IL Jan 29 2013 — An 18-year-old Riverside Brookfield High School student was arrested on a charge of battery to a school security employee and an assault charge against another student last week, police said Monday.
Officers were called to the school about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 23 on a disturbance report, where they discovered that Jose Guerrero, 18, of Broadview, had allegedly accused another student of reporting him in connection to a recent theft.
Guerrero confronted the other student in the fieldhouse and was making several aggressive threats toward him, police said. A school security employee was nearby and made attempts to hold back Guerrero from the other student, but Guerrero pulled away and knocked the security officer to the ground, according to police reports.
The school security employee nor the juvenile victim were injured during the incident.
As police took Guerrero into custody, he allegedly continued to assault the other student and made threats to him while trying to pull away from the arresting officer, police said.
