A middle school teacher has been arrested after she fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash and offered to perform sexual favors on the arresting officer if he let her go, police said.
Mary Maloney was arrested on multiple charges, including driving under the influence and bribery of a public servant.
Greenacres police said witnesses to a hit-and-run crash followed the van that fled the scene Sunday night.
According to the arrest report, an empty gallon jug of Carlo Rossi wine was found behind the driver's seat of Maloney's damaged van, which was parked on the side of the street when officers arrived.
Police said Maloney refused to cooperate with officers during their DUI investigation. Police said she began yelling at them and made random vulgar statements.
While she was on her way to the police station, Maloney allegedly told an officer, "How much do I need to pay you to just let me go? Don't you understand I am a school teacher?" She then offered to perform oral sex on the officer and let him fondle her breasts, the report stated.
Maloney is a seventh-grade math teacher at Palm Springs Community Middle School. Even though she was arrested on three prior occasions, Maloney has managed to keep her job.
Jail records show Maloney was arrested on a DUI charge in 2009, a battery charge in 2010 and a probation violation charge later that year.
A spokesman for the Palm Beach County school district said Maloney could be subject to suspension or termination pending the outcome of case.
