Sacramento CA July 31 2013 Two men accused of attempting to rob an armored car outside a Florin Road Walmart store pleaded guilty today in federal court in Sacramento.
Raymell Lamar Eason, 43, and Keith Lamont Smith, 36, both of Sacramento, pleaded guilty to conspiring to rob an armored car and attempted robbery of an armored car, according to a Department of Justice news release.According to court documents, on April 17, 2012, Eason and Smith planned to rob an armored car in the Walmart parking lot on Florin Road. They had scouted the location on previous occasions and planned to use a Taser gun on a Garda Logistics Services armored car guard.
The two men waited for the guard to come out of the store with its deposits. Eason then shot the guard with the Taser as Smith waited nearby in the getaway vehicle.
The guard, however, recovered from the Taser faster than anticipated and was able to shoot Eason.
Eason was arrested after the botched robbery, and Smith was taken into custody later the same day.
Both men are to be sentenced Oct. 21 by U.S. District Judge Wiliam B. Shubb.Source-sacbee.com
