CLEVELAND, Ohio July 28 2013 -- Police shot a man who had earlier shot another man at a bar on East 131st Street early this morning.
Police said a man shot a security guard at the door of Winston's Place Bar in the 4200 block of East 131st Street, near Miles Avenue, around 2 a.m.
Police said the man was thrown out of the bar after getting into a fight. He went to his car, got a gun, returned to the bar and shot the security guard in the leg.
Police were alerted and when they arrived, they saw a man leaving the bar with a handgun. Police ordered him to stop but instead he started to run away.
Police chased the man, who stopped and fired at the police officers. Police shot the man multiple times.
Both men were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
The man shot by police has been placed under arrest.
