Madison WI July 27 2013 Two Madison women were arrested for shoplifting Wednesday, one of whom laughed at a store security guard while leaving the store with a bulging bag of goods, Madison police reported.
Shatanae Mims, 28, and Ronda Alexander, 24, were tentatively charged with retail theft, police said in a news release.
The two women allegedly took goods from two stores and were ready to hit another store when police arrived and made the arrests.
"An Old Navy loss prevention officer tried to stop them after they left the East Springs Drive store with a bulging purse full of stolen clothes," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain in the release. "One of the women laughed at the employee as both jumped into a waiting SUV and sped off."
While officers were at Old Navy, a second shoplifting report came in from the other side of town.
"This time they allegedly took nearly $270 worth of fake hair from Sally Beauty Supply before fleeing again," DeSpain said.
An officer spotted their SUV outside T.J. Maxx at Westgate Mall.
"It wasn't hard to find the suspects," DeSpain said. "A prior victim said one woman had a very distinctive hairstyle, shaved on three sides with the rest dyed in different colors, neon green, pink, orange and black."
The suspects allegedly had a bag full of merchandise in T.J. Maxx when arrested.
