PADUCAH, KY July 24 2013 - Three men have been arrested in connection with an early-morning break-in at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.
Patrick G. Tallent, 22, was charged with third degree burglary.
Jason R. Blair, 23, was charged with complicity to third-degree burglary.
Joseanibal B. Cruze, 34, was charged with third-degree burglary and tampering with physical evidence.
According to the Paducah Police Department, officers responded at 3:19 a.m. on Monday, July 22 to a burglary at the Anderson Building. A WKCTC security officer told police he had caught a man crawling out of a broken window, and found an ATM on the ground outside of the building. The officer also said he had seen a red car leaving the area.
The security officer was still talking with the man when police arrived. Officers arrested the man, identified as Tallent, on a charge of third-degree burglary.
Police say they found the car described by the security officer on North Friendship Road. It was stopped, and the driver and a passenger were arrested. Detectives interviewed the two men, Blair and Cruze, and determined they were involved in the break-in.
Police officers who initially detained Cruze say they saw him stuffing money in the waistband of his pants. At the police department, they say Cruze pulled a wad of money out of his pants. Before he was jailed, Cruze was searched and more cash was found on his person.
Detective Sgt. Brian Laird said a room in the Anderson Building contains vending machines. Detectives found the vending machines had been damaged and broken into, and an undetermined amount of money was stolen. They say an ATM in the building had been dragged out a door onto the ground outside, and had been damaged, also.
Tallent, Blair and Cruze were booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
