MINNEAPOLIS MN July 21 2013 - A northwest Minnesota man has been federally indicted for allegedly stealing nearly $200,000 while working his route as an armored car driver.
Prosecutors say from March 2005 through March 15, Christopher James Diestler of Fergus Falls stole approximately $182,350 from Bremer Bank ATMs in Alexandria, Breckenridge, Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, and Morris in Minnesota, and in Wahpeton, North Dakota; a Wells Fargo ATM in Alexandria; and a U.S. Bank ATM in Fergus Falls.
Diestler was charged with one count of bank larceny on July 16, and taken into custody one day later.
Investigators say the defendant had access to the cash machines through his duties as an armored truck driver.
If convicted, Diestler faces a potential maximum penalty of ten years in prison.
