
Filed by Officer Anthony O'Brien, the report says O'Brien responded to a report of an assault in progress at the store at 15 North Park Place at 2:02 p.m. July 1.
Rite Aid Loss Prevention Officer Yasin Sarratt told O'Brien Megan Wortman, 22, of Morristown, put seven items into her purse before going to the register and paying for one item, according to the report.
But when Sarratt confronted Wortman at the front of the store, Wortman hit him with a closed fist, the report sad. Sarratt was able to escort Wortman back into the store, and as they approached the manager's office, Wortman started yelling and tried to hit Sarratt again, the report said.
Police then arrived and stopped Wortman's "violent actions," the report said.
O'Brien watched the incident footage provided by store security, according to the report. Sarratt said he wasn't hurt, the report said.
Wortman was charged with shoplifting, attempt to cause bodily injury to another and robbery.
She was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail, the report said.
