Tuscaloosa County AL July 10 2013 According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department, an Enterprise High School graduate and currently a teacher in Tuscaloosa County, was arrested on a grand jury warrant for charges of incest, second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse.
Lt. Andy Norris with the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Anessa Dawn Olive Ferguson, 37, was arrested Wednesday, July 3. Ferguson graduated from EHS in 1994 and is a kindergarten teacher at Maxwell Elementary School in Duncanville in Tuscaloosa County.
Arrests reports indicate an investigation ensued after the sheriff’s office received a complaint from a relative.
A Tuscaloosa County grand jury indicted Ferguson on engaging in sexual intercourse, "deviate" sexual intercourse and sexual contact by "forcible compulsion" with a member of the opposite sex between the ages of 12 and 16.
Norris stated the incidents did not involve any students with the school system.
As for the charge of incest, the documents describe the act as sexual intercourse with a victim who the defendant knew to be related, either by blood, adoption or marriage.
Ferguson was booked into jail and received a $25,000 bond. She was released on Wednesday, July 3.
Ferguson is reported to have relatives living in the Geneva and Enterprise area.
