MANATEE, Fla. July 7 2013 — A 62-year-old Bradenton woman discovered at 9:15 p.m. Saturday that kissing a Manatee County Sheriff's Office sergeant on the nose can result in an arrest.
Peggy Hill, who lives in the 1100 block of 134th Street Northeast, allegedly kissed a sheriff's sergeant who had come to her street regarding a dispute, according to the sheriff's office.
Given the circumstances surrounding the kiss, the deputy considered it a battery on his person, according to a report.
The dispute ignited when Hill's neighbor told authorities she had taken down part of his fence. Hill is reportedly accused of taking livestock from the same neighbor.
When Lamb advised Hill she was tampering with the neighbor, she allegedly became verbally abusive toward the sergeant and an assisting deputy.
During the verbal altercation, Hill kissed the sergeant on the nose against his will, the deputy reported.
The sergeant stepped away from her, wiped the saliva from his nose and arrested Hill. While waiting to be taken to jail, Hill reportedly told the deputy the dispute with the neighbor is over chicken wire placed on her fence by the neighbor.
She said the thought just popped in her mind to kiss the deputy on the nose rather than just walk away and avoid getting arrested.
Hill was in the Manatee County jail Monday subject to a $5,000 bond, according to the sheriff's office website.
