LAS VEGAS NV July 4 2013 -- A retired Metro Deputy Chief is behind bars tonight after an altercation with a North Las Vegas police captain.
59-year-old Carl Fruge was arrested earlier tonight in what began as a minor traffic accident on private property near Durango Road and US 95.
Fruge was in the parking lot with the female driver of the vehicle when an on duty plain clothes North Las Vegas police captain was driving by and stopped. At some point there was a physical altercation between Fruge and the officer, who is identified by police sources as Capt. Frank DeMartino.
As a result, Metro officers were called to the scene and arrested Fruge for battery of a police officer and DUI.
Fruge is in the Clark County Detention Center on a 12-hour hold as a result of the DUI charge.
