STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. June 23 2013-- A robbery suspect chomped on a security officer's hand Thursday when he tried to arrest her for swiping a pillow from a New Springville department store, allege prosecutors. Uzoejinwa Odeme, 32, of the 100 block of Norwood Avenue, Clifton, bit the guard at about 7 p.m. in JC Penney, said court papers.
The officer was trying to stop her after she failed to pay for a pillow and pillow case, court documents said.
The guard suffered a hand laceration, prosecutors said.
Ms. Odeme was charged with a felony count of attempted robbery and misdemeanor counts of attempted assault and petit larceny, said a spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan.
