Drug Investigators conducted a search warrant at a North Frontage Road home in Forsyth Thursday afternoon. The house was occupied by several people.
After a search of the house was complete, 30-year-old Horace Ray Wise was arrested on drug and firearm charges and reckless conduct for child endangerment. Wise is also a registered sex offender.
After further investigation, 27-year-old Kontrina Lanette Toomer, a Macon Police Officer, who also lived at the home, was arrested on drug and child endangerment charges.
Toomer was relieved of her gun, badge and other related Macon Police items by Internal Affairs officers.
Investigators seized over 11 ounces of marijuana packaged for sale along with pills of undetermined origin, a semi-automatic handgun and over $4,000 in cash.
The children in the home were turned over to family members. DFACS was notified of the situation.
Macon Police Chief Mike Carswell is reacting to the arrest of Officer Kontrina Toomer.
In a released statement, Chief Carswell said, "Of course we are very disappointed in the alleged behavior of this officer, but anyone within our ranks who breaks the law is not welcome in the macon police department."
The statement went on to say they support the work of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and will fully cooperate with the investigation.
Chief Carswell has yet to comment on the future of Officer Toomer with the Macon Police Department.
Toomer is the fourth Macon Police Officer arrested so far this year.
