A bouncer was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening and some others received minor injuries, according to a Metrosafe dispatch supervisor.
But had the accident occurred one night earlier, during Wednesday’s weekly dance party, bartender Shadwick Wilde thinks it could have been worse.
“Thankfully, there were only about 10 or 15 people in our front room that night,” Wilde, who was working behind the bar during the crash, said. “Which is great, because on Wednesday night there are usually 100 people in the front room.”
Wilde said he had his back turned when he heard the loud crash and people began screaming. Two women were in the front of the car and two men were in the back, he said.
The women appeared traumatized but uninjured and stayed while Louisville Metro Police came to investigate, he said. The two men left before police arrived, he said.
The wreck destroyed the door and damaged some of the brick at the front of the building and damaged the wooden bar, Wilde said. He wasn’t sure if the business was going to reopen immediately.
The Mag Bar is located at 1398 South Second Street and Magnolia Avenue, north of the University of Louisville campus.
