OREGON CITY, Ore. June 13 2013– A club soccer coach in Oregon City was arrested Wednesday on five counts of sexual abusing a 12-year-old, deputies said.
Joseph Leonetti, 43, was arrested at his home by detectives with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Child Abuse Team and was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail, said Deputy Mark Nikolai.
Leonetti has a lengthy history of coaching girls soccer, including coaching the West Linn High School Girls’ soccer team from 1997 to 2006, Nikolai said.
The victim was a on a club team coached by Leonetti, Nikolai said.
Leonetti's bail was set at $1.25 million. He will be arraigned Thursday in Clackamas County at 3 p.m.
The crimes reportedly happened in fall and winter of 2012. Detectives are not ruling out the possibility of other victims and are asking anyone with additional information to call the sheriff’s office at 503-723-4949.
