LAKEWOOD, Wash. June 7 2013-- A Homeland Security agent was injured during a drug investigation Wednesday night.
Lakewood officer Lt. Lawler says that just before 8:00 p.m., a DEA-led narcotics investigation team made up of officials from the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms), ICE (Immigrations and Customs Enforcements), Homeland Security and Lakewood police stopped a vehicle near the interesection of 108th Street SW and 47th Avenue SW in Lakewood.
Witnesses said the agent opened fire after the suspect tried to run him over with his car.
The agent fired, hitting the suspect. The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital. His condition has not been released.
The agent was also treated for a leg injury, but is expected to be OK.
