George “Rico” Laise, 46, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and two counts of rape involving a victim with a mental incapacity. Police say the girl was not a Harpeth Hall student, but played on a traveling soccer team coached by Laise. They said the girl, who was 16 at the time, suffered a concussion in 2012 at a match in Las Vegas, after which Laise began having sexual conversations her.
That March, she later told police, their sexual relationship began, which lasted through April of this year and occurred mostly at his home in Bellevue. Police say she was still suffering the results of the concussion.
Detectives say that at least one other teen may have had a sexual relationship with Laise as well, information they say they will soon present to the Davidson County Grand Jury.
Anyone with information about the case or suspicion about similar relationships is asked to call Metro’s Sex Crimes Unit at 862-7540.
