Sheriff Dudley Greene said that he already has a trained pool of reserve deputies and he'll be using them to add security to the county schools.
They'll help school resource officer Kevin Fineberg, who's responsible for six schools. The Sheriff has asked reserves to volunteer 8 hours a month to help guard schools.
"With the recent events in our nation the sheriff wanted to make our schools safer," says Fineberg. "We want to have the safest schools we can in McDowell County. "
Every reserve officer is certified and able to carry a gun, just like full-time deputies.
