Riverside CA May 17 2013 An off-duty correctional deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has been charged with battery and elder abuse against a 71-year-old security guard.
The security guard’s wrist was fractured when he was pushed to the ground in the parking lot at Tom’s Farms just south of Corona on April 20, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
The district attorney’s office filed charges Tuesday, May 14, against Reggie Alcantar, 31, who was off duty at the time of the incident and a patron at Tom’s Farms, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Alcantar is free on bond, pending further court proceedings. He was placed on paid administrative leave until the criminal investigation is complete, the department said.
Alcantar has been employed by the Sheriff’s Department since 2006 and was most recently assigned to the Robert Presley Detention Center in downtown Riverside, the department said.
