
Officers arrested 30-year-old Jack McDowell on 39 counts of unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree disorderly conduct. McDowell is a candidate for a Political Science Doctorate and serves as a graduate teaching fellow for the university.
Eugene Police responded to McDowell's home at 1804 Columbia St. at around 3:20 a.m. Saturday. Police said they received four calls from neighbors who heard gunfire coming from the southeast campus home.
After arriving on-scene, officers report they called McDowell out of the house and put him into custody. A brief investigation found that McDowell was shooting guns into the ceiling of his home, police officials said.
Investigators said they found at least 39 bullet holes in McDowell's ceiling, and later seized several firearms and other evidence from inside the house.
McDowell was booked at the Lane County Jail on 39 counts of unlawful use of a weapon and disorderly conduct 2.
