ST. CLAIRSVILLE OH May 12 2013 - A major accident on Interstate 70 on Thursday near the Ohio Valley Mall, left one man with minor injuries and subsequently lead to a fight between a bystander and a mall security guard.
According to initial reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a commercial tractor trailer hauling a bulldozer was traveling east near Exit 218 at the Ohio Valley Mall when the vehicle rolled over the guardrail, losing the bulldozer in the process. The vehicle then rolled over the steep embankment.
The driver, Jerry L. Fox, 42, Dilliner, Pa., was transported to Wheeling Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Officials from the Patrol, Cumberland Trail Fire Department, Ohio Department of Transportation and a towing service arrived on-scene. Following the accident, traffic was reduced to a single lane on I-70's eastbound side until 2 a.m. today when the site was cleared.
The accident is under investigation.
At the time of the crash, onlookers at the nearby Ohio Valley Mall gathered in the parking lot where a fight broke out between a mall security guard and woman onlooker.
According to Joe Bell with the Cafaro Co. which operates the mall, a woman was taking pictures of the accident on the mall property, which is against mall policy. She was asked by the security guard to desist when the two scuffled.
Police are continuing their investigation.
