Little Rock AR May 9 2013 A mother who was holding her 6-month-old child is accused of pepper-spraying an employee at a Little Rock department store who moved to stop her from shoplifting, authorities said.
Gabrielle Haney, 22, is facing charges of robbery and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Haney was arrested about 1 p.m. Sunday at the Kohl's department store at 13909 Chenal Parkway in west Little Rock.
According to an arrest report, Haney and another woman were confronted by a loss prevention associate after they stole unspecified items from the business.
Haney then "pepper-sprayed the female loss prevention officer in the face" while holding her 6-month old, the report said.
No arrest report was on file for the other woman said to be with Haney. It wasn't clear whether she was charged.
Haney remained in the Pulaski County jail Monday morning with bail set at $16,000. A court date is set for May 13.
