Jersey City NJ May 2 2013 A former employee of a private security firm employed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey was arrested yesterday and charged with stealing electronic devices and cash from two Port Authority facilities in Jersey City, officials said.Omar Hassan, 23, whose address was not available, has been charged by the Port Authority's Inspector General Office with the theft of five Port Authority iPhones, three iPads, one MacBook Pro, and $220, Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman said.
Coleman said the electronics items were allegedly taken while Hassan worked as a security guard at a Port Authority facility on Montgomery Street near Exchange Place.
The cash was allegedly taken while Hassan worked as a security guard at a Port Authority facility near the mouth of the Holland Tunnel, Coleman said.
Hassan is charged with 10 counts of theft of moveable property, Coleman said.
