Allentown PA April 30 2013 An angry patron early Sunday morning tried to shoot security officers who threw him out of an Allentown nightclub, city police report.
Trevor Leebing, 31, pointed a gun at the heads of security guards about 4 a.m. outside the Catch 22 club in the 300 block of Hamilton Street, police said.
But the gun did not go off, and Leebing was arrested after security officers chased him down and detained him until police arrived, police Capt. Glen Dorney said.
Leebing had moments earlier been thrown out of the nightclub after an altercation, and waited outside for the guards while they were throwing out somebody else, Dorney said.
"Mr. Leebing approached the security staff, pointed a gun at their heads and pulled the trigger," he said. "Fortunately, the weapon malfunctioned, and the security officers were able to run inside."
Leebing is charged with five counts of attempted homicide, one for each security guard and nightclub patron placed in danger, Dorney said.
Leebing has no known current address, but his last known address was in Brooklyn, Dorney said.
After the gun failed to discharge, Leebing ran across the street and threw the weapon over a bridge, police said. It was later recovered.
After the security officers ran inside, armed security guards came from inside the club and detained Leebing. He was arrested without incident, Dorney said.
He is also charged with five counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
