LAPWAI, Idaho April 19 2103 -- Northern Idaho authorities say an 8-year-old Lapwai boy has died after being shot in the chest on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation.
Nez Perce County Sheriff Joe Rodriguez tells the Lewiston Tribune that the Wednesday shooting was accidental.
He says sheriff's deputies and Nez Perce Tribal Police responded about 4:45 p.m. to a call reporting a gunshot wound at a residence.
Authorities say the boy was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. His name hasn't been released.
The shooting is being investigated by the FBI and tribal police.
