
On April 6, the man walked into a Lundy's Lane restaurant wearing a three-piece suit and tie and requested that they provide him with surveillance video from an incident that occurred at the restaurant several days prior.
Police spokesman Const. Derek Watson said it is believed the man was "directly involved in the incident."
On April 8, officers were notified and began an investigation. As a result, Kevin Randell Piche, 42, was charged with one count of personating a peace officer.
Piche is being held in custody pending a bail hearing April 12 at the St. Catharines courthouse.
The Niagara Regional Police want to remind the public that impersonating a police officer is a criminal offence and that all officers carry a badge and photo identification.
