Las Vegas NV April 12 2013 A traffic ticket-fixing lawyer known for his pink house was arrested after bringing a handgun into the Regional Justice Center earlier this week.
Kirk Ryan Helmick was charged Monday with felony carrying a concealed firearm, a loaded 9 mm Smith & Wesson, into the downtown courthouse.
A marshal running one of the scan machines noticed the gun in Helmick’s brief case, according to an arrest report.
Helmick did not have a concealed weapon permit, not that it matters when entering the courthouse. Signs posted at both entrances state that no weapons are allowed in the building at Lewis and Third streets.
Helmick runs the well advertised (702)TRAFFIC law office that specializes in DUI and traffic citation defense. His offices are located in the pink house at the corner of Flamingo Road and Rainbow Boulevard.
His television advertisements are highlighted by a cartoon police officer announcing, “You do not want to see me in court.”
A message left Thursday at Helmick’s office asking for comment was not immediately returned.
A hearing date was set for Aug. 6 in Las Vegas Justice Court.
Prosecutors were still reviewing the case to determine how to move forward with the charge against Helmick.
