A Hinds County jury found Derrick Johnson guilty of capital murder Wednesday in connection with a 2011 shooting that killed a convenience store security guard
One of the men, who police identified as Johnson, opened fire, shooting store clerk Suvin Khai Shresta and James McKinney, authorities said. McKinney was killed.
The guys came in with a gun. They pointed the gun right at my face and demanded the money. I just opened the cash register, and I didn't say anything at the time," Shresta said.
Johnson was also found not guilty of aggravated assault. His attorney and family left the courthouse without comment.
Johnson is one of three men charged in the shooting at the Shell gas station on Fortification Street. Police said the men were caught on surveillance video trying to rob the business

Shresta, who was shot in the leg, testified Tuesday during Johnson's trial.

Johnson was expected to enter a plea agreement Tuesday morning, but changed his mind, court officials said. The trial went on as scheduled.
The prosecution and defense attorneys called their final witnesses Wednesday before presenting closing arguments.
Two other men, Kameron Woodard and Aaron McNair are also charged in connection with the shooting. Their trial dates have not been set.
