FORT KNOX, KY.April 5 2013— A civilian employee was killed at the Fort Knox Army post Wednesday, the military said in a news release.
The victim, whose name was being withheld pending notification of family, was shot in a parking lot outside the Army Human Resources Command Headquarters, where he worked.
Fort Knox Police were called about 5:40 p.m. The victim was taken to Ireland Army Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Army investigators are calling the shooting “a personal incident and not a random act of violence,” Chris Grey, an Army Criminal Investigation Command spokesman, said in the release.
The statement said police are interested in speaking with a person described as a black male who is 5-feet-9 and has black hair and brown eyes. He might be driving a black Yamaha motorcycle, it said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the criminal investigation command at (502) 624-6332 or the Fort Knox Police at (502) 624-2111.
