MERRILLVILLE IN March 30 2013 A Gary woman is accused of stealing nearly $1,100 from Kmart.
Sharaya Blackwell, 21, was charged with theft.
Video surveillance from Jan. 4 shows Blackwell was counting cash from her register drawer at the end of her shift at Kmart, 101 W. Lincoln Highway. The transactions for the receipts totaled $1,095, court documents state.
Blackwell took her deposit bag to the store's service desk.
Court documents state there was no money in the deposit bag when it was opened Jan. 6.
Blackwell called off sick for her Jan. 6 shift and she didn't show up for work when scheduled Jan. 7, documents state.
Merrillville police scheduled an interview with Blackwell, but she didn't show up for it, according to the documents.
