Police say the officer was assaulted by the thief and her driver Friday evening when he approached the woman about items she had not paid for.
The loss prevention officer at Kohl’s on S. Louise Avenue followed a young woman with a shopping cart who went into a changing room with more items than she came out with.
The woman bolted to the door when approached by the agent, according to Sgt. Josh Disburg of the SFPD, and got into what was described as a “beige sedan.”
As the guard approached the sedan, a silver-colored multi-purpose tool flew out the open passenger door and struck him in the leg, Disburg said. The driver of the sedan, a man in his 20s, put the car in reverse and struck the security agent with the open passenger side door before taking off.
Police were notified but did not find the suspects. The security officer was not injured.
The security agent stated that the female got away with $112 worth of clothing, Disburg said.
