NBC Miami reported that Adrien Broner was involved in an altercation early Monday at Miami Beach's Fontainebleau hotel when security guards attempted to intervene.
Police said one of the guards grabbed Broner to pull him away from the fight, and officers said the boxer bit the man on his right forearm.
Broner was charged with simple battery, a misdemeanor, and posted $1,500 bond.
He posted several defiant messages Monday night on Twitter after he was released from jail, saying, "So much hate I need a AK" and "Nobody will beat ME," but he was a bit more reflective on Tuesday.
"I wanted to say sorry to all my fans in this world for my behavior these last couple days I know it's people that look up to me I APOLOGIZE," Broner posted. "Real men own up to they mistakes."
