San Francisco CA March 20 2013 A security guard who was allegedly posing as an FBI agent last month while driving recklessly through the Mission district told police he was rushing to pay his phone bill.
Angel Wilfredo Castro, 47, was slapped with three misdemeanor charges and four infractions related to the February incident in which police said he was driving a Ford Crown Victoria that was illegally fitted with a light bar and siren.
The incident unfolded at the peak of rush hour about 5 p.m. Feb. 11, according to court documents, when a police officer in a marked car at 24th and Capp streets heard sirens.
The cop was suspicious, police said, because he hadn’t heard of any emergency in the area. Then he saw the Ford run a red light at the intersection with flashing lights and a blaring siren.
The officer said he followed the car at speeds of 40 mph in a 25 mph zone until the vehicle parked in the 2600 block of Mission Street.
The officer pulled up and asked what was going on. Castro reportedly claimed the emergency he had been responding to was over.
The cop said Castro did not respond like an FBI agent. He sort of looked like one, however, as he was reportedly wearing a blue baseball cap, blue polo shirt with an FBI emblem and black boots, and he had a gun with a holster and a silver star on his belt.
Still, the officer investigated further and reportedly discovered Castro was a fraud.
On Monday, a bench warrant was issued for the San Francisco resident after he failed to show up to his arraignment, Assistant District Attorney Alex Bastian said.
