MOBILE, Alabama Feb 28 2013 – Entertainment website tmz.com has reported that a man is suing BayFest and performer Akon over injuries allegedly suffered at the festival in 2009.
Akon, a performer whose music is a blend of R&B, rap and pop, was one of the headliners on the closing night of the 2009 festival.
According to tmz.com, a concert worker named Matthew Graham is suing Akon and BayFest Inc. claiming that he suffered “severe and permanent injury to his knee, back, head and body” when Akon jumped from the stage into the crowd.
The tmz.com story did not specify the capacity in which Graham was working.
Bobby Bostwick, president of the BayFest board, said he had recently learned of "the claim and possible lawsuit” and had turned it over to the festival’s insurance company, which would handle the matter. Bostwick said he did not yet personally know the details of the allegation.
The tmz.com report includes the following video, purportedly from the performance in question. According to YouTube.com, it was uploaded Oct. 5, 2009, the day after Akon's appearance at BayFest.
