Frederick MD Feb 27 2013 An officer from the Frederick Police Department is facing theft charges after police said she used gift cards stolen in a Montgomery County burglary.
Charity Faith Hoxie, 37, of Waynesboro, Pa., was served Jan. 22 with a criminal summons from Hagerstown police charging her with theft under $1,000.The cards, which were from Bed, Bath & Beyond, were reported stolen along with other items from a home in the 15000 block of Mahogany Circle in Gaithersburg on Oct. 18, 2012, according to charging documents filed in Washington County District Court. The residents said they had been out of town between Oct. 2 and Oct. 7, during which time the apartment was burglarized.The cards were used at a store in Hagerstown on Oct. 9, and Montgomery County Police obtained receipts and surveillance video from the purchases, and Hoxie was identified as the person who used the cards.Hoxie has had her police powers suspended and has been placed on administrative duties pending the outcome of the case, according to Chief Thomas Ledwell.
